Acceptance of Terms

By using the Life Tape mobile application and related services, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Description of Service

Life Tape is a memory capture and organization application that converts spoken input into text-based memories. Features include transcription, timeline organization, private entries, and export tools.

Subscription Terms

Life Tape offers subscription plans that unlock premium features. By subscribing, you agree to the following:

• Payment is charged to your Apple ID account at confirmation of purchase
• Subscription automatically renews unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period
• Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same rate
• You can manage and cancel subscriptions in your App Store account settings after purchase
• Any unused portion of a free trial period is forfeited when you purchase a subscription
• Prices may vary by location and are subject to change with notice

Free Trial

Life Tape offers a limited free tier that allows you to create a set number of memories before a subscription is required. This allows you to experience the app's core features before committing to a paid plan.

User Content

You retain full ownership of all memories, transcriptions, and content you create within Life Tape. We do not claim ownership of your content.

AI-Generated Content

Life Tape uses third-party AI service providers to power several features, including voice transcription, title generation, timeline parsing, and Life Weave narrative generation. By using these features, you acknowledge:

• Text transcripts of memories you select are sent to a third-party AI provider for processing. The provider processes this data under its own terms and does not use API data to train its models by default. See OpenAI's API data usage policy.
• AI-generated titles, dates, and narrative content are suggestions provided for convenience and may not always be accurate. You are responsible for reviewing and editing AI-generated content.
• Life Tape is not liable for any inaccuracies in AI-generated output.

Life Weave Feature

The Life Weave feature generates narrative stories from the memories you select. The following terms apply:

• Only text transcripts of memories you explicitly select are sent for processing. No audio is ever transmitted.
• Private memories are excluded from all Life Weaves by default. Private content is only included when you are using the Shadow Private Side feature, have marked those memories as Sharable, and have manually assigned them to a chapter when opting into a Shadow Private Side weave.
• Generated weaves are stored in your account until you delete them. You retain full ownership of all generated content.
• Each subscription tier allows one Life Weave per tier per month.

Acceptable Use

• Use Life Tape for lawful purposes only
• Do not misuse the app or attempt to disrupt its operation
• Do not attempt to access other users' data
• Do not use the service to store illegal content

Privacy and Data

Your use of Life Tape is subject to our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

Security Features

Life Tape provides optional security features, including PIN protection for sensitive entries. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your access credentials and PIN. Life Tape cannot recover lost PINs.

Exports and Backups

Life Tape allows you to export your content. You are responsible for maintaining backups of any exported data. We recommend regular exports for important memories.

Service Availability

We strive to provide reliable access but do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free service. Features may change or be discontinued over time. We will provide reasonable notice of significant changes when possible.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Life Tape shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the app, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of memories, or service interruptions.

Termination

We may suspend or terminate access to the service if these Terms are violated. You may stop using the service at any time. Upon termination, your right to use the app ceases, but you may export your data before account deletion.

Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Florida, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. We will notify users of significant changes through the app or via email.
