Introduction

Life Tape ("we," "our," or "us") are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect information when you use the Life Tape mobile application and related services.

Audio Handling

We do not store your voice recordings. Audio captured through the microphone is processed in real-time for transcription and is immediately discarded after the text is generated. Only the resulting text transcription is saved to your account. Raw audio files are never stored on our servers.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Account information (email address, name, birth date)
• Text memories and transcriptions created through app usage
• Optional titles, keywords, and dates you add or edit
• Account-related information if you contact support

Microphone Access

Life Tape uses microphone access only when you choose to record a memory or enable active listening features. Audio input is processed to generate text transcriptions and is not retained as raw audio recordings.

Device and Usage Information

We may collect limited technical information such as app version, device type, and operating system to help maintain app stability and performance.

How We Use Information

• To generate and organize text-based memories
• To improve transcription accuracy and app features
• To provide customer support when requested
• To maintain security and prevent misuse
• To process subscription payments

Third-Party Services

Life Tape uses the following third-party services to provide core functionality:

• OpenAI (Whisper) – Voice transcription. Audio is sent securely to OpenAI's servers for processing and is not retained after transcription is complete.
• OpenAI (GPT) – Title generation and date detection. Only your transcript text is sent, processed, and immediately discarded.
• Supabase – Secure database storage for your memories and account information.
• RevenueCat – Subscription management. Only purchase verification data is shared; no personal content is transmitted.

These services are bound by their own privacy policies and data protection standards. We select partners who maintain appropriate security measures.

Data Storage and Security

Memories and related data are stored in a protected database associated with your account. Sensitive entries can be protected using a 6-digit PIN set within the app. We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to safeguard your information.

Exports and Deletion

You can export your memories and thoughts at any time, either individually, in bulk, or as your full timeline. You may also delete memories directly within the app. Deleted content is removed from active storage.

Account and Data Deletion

You may delete your account and all associated data at any time by:

• Data Deletion: Go to Settings → Your Data → Delete Data. You can delete your Timeline Chapters, Memories, Thoughts individually, or delete all data at once.
• Account Deletion: You can fully delete your account and all associated data by going to Settings → Account → Delete Account and your email and data will be permanently deleted from our server.

In-app deletions are immediate and permanent. These actions cannot be undone.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data, display advertisements, or share your content with third parties for marketing purposes. Data may be processed by trusted service providers solely to support core app functionality, as described in the Third-Party Services section above.

Your Choices

• Enable or disable active listening features
• Edit, export, or delete memories at any time
• Protect sensitive entries with a PIN
• Request complete account deletion

Children's Privacy

Life Tape is not intended for use by children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
