Information You Provide

• Account Information: Email address, name, and password when you create an account
• Voice Recordings: Audio recordings you create using the app
• Transcriptions: Text transcriptions of your voice recordings
• Memory Content: Titles, dates, tags, and other metadata you add to your memories
• Timeline Anchors: Life event markers you create (e.g., "College 2015-2019")

Information Automatically Collected

• Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers
• Usage Data: Features used, time spent in app, interaction patterns
• Error Logs: Crash reports and technical diagnostics

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain the Life Tape service
• Process your voice recordings using AI transcription (OpenAI Whisper API)
• Generate smart titles and organize your memories
• Enable you to search, share, and export your memories
• Improve our app features and user experience
• Send important service updates and security alerts
• Process your subscription payments

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using:

• Supabase (PostgreSQL): Encrypted database storage with row-level security
• End-to-End Encryption: Your Dark Side memories are encrypted with your PIN
• Secure Transmission: All data transmitted over HTTPS/TLS
• Access Controls: Only you can access your memories (we cannot read your private content)

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• OpenAI: Voice transcription (Whisper API) and title generation (GPT-4). Audio files are processed but not stored by OpenAI.
• Supabase: Database hosting and authentication
• Apple App Store: Payment processing for subscriptions

Data Sharing

We do NOT:

• Sell your personal information to anyone
• Share your memories with third parties without your consent
• Use your content for advertising
• Train AI models on your private memories

We MAY share data:

• When you explicitly choose to share a memory
• If required by law or legal process
• To prevent fraud or abuse
• In aggregated, anonymized form for analytics

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your data
• Delete: Delete your account and all associated data
• Export: Download your memories in PDF or text format
• Correct: Update or correct your information
• Object: Opt out of non-essential data processing

Data Retention

We retain your data:

• As long as your account is active
• For 30 days after account deletion (recovery period)
• Longer if required by law

Children's Privacy

Life Tape is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us immediately.

International Users

Your data may be transferred to and stored in the United States. By using Life Tape, you consent to this transfer.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification.
